meme from purplespark via ame_chan
May. 14th, 2003 09:48 amThese 10 years ago memes are a little silly since I was 14 ten years ago, but I think I still want the exercise in remembering.
The point of this is to see how you're different than you were 10 years ago, I think...
1. LOCATION: Glenview, Illinois. Specifically I was living at the Glenview Naval Air Station which was smack in the middle of one of the richest North Shore Chicago suburbs.
2. SEX: That would begin the next summer (1994)
3. RELATIONSHIPS: No real boy or girlfriends yet. I had a huge crush on this gangbanger who had his locker next to mine and rebuffed a really nice guy from my german class. I was soooo stupid about boys. (and girls didn't hit the radar as paramours until 94 either - maybe I should take a 9 year meme)
4. APPEARANCE: I was 75 pounds lighter - this was my last year as an athlete - I was training 2-4 hours a day in the pool and jogging as well. This was the time in my life when I did triathalons.
5. DRUGS: I had smoked a pipe (tobacco) once and maybe tried cigarettes. My paltry foray into drug experimentation didn't start until (you guessed it - 1994)
6. DRIVING: I got shuttled around in the family station wagon
7. FOOD: I was an ovo lacto vegetarian - this was the first year of my commitment to veggieness - it would continue until 1999.
8. CREATIVITY: I was practicing the piano like a mad woman - playing Chopin Waltzes and Bach Sinfonias. Oh and I think this was the year that my piano teacher introduced me to the work of Schoenberg. It was also the year I started playing bassoon.
9. SOCIAL: I had a lot of acquaintances, since it was my first year in a new town, but I was making friends that I continue to keep in my life now.
10. MONEY: I was an organist for the base chapel on sundays for $65 a service (only one a week). I was saving all of this money to buy a bassoon.
