absent minded professor

I think I should make a point of looking in the mirror in the mornings when I'm dressed to leave for work. I managed to walk out the door with the shell of my sweater set inside out. Luckily the cardigan was covering it so the tag wasn't sticking out. I don't think it was too noticable, but I'm still just kind of amazed at myself. I remember my class snickering and mocking under their breath a few years ago when the absent minded prof. I was TAing for walked in with his polo shirt inside out (of course that was only one of a series of doofy and mildly disgusting behaviors that quarter). I suppose I can take small comfort in the knowledge that I did manage to notice on the bus ride in, and was able to fix it before any of my students could take pot shots at me.

Yay for Rob Brezny - his horoscope for Leo was a bit bland this week, but he included an except from his book "Pronoia" that I absolutely love.

"Life is a vast and intricate conspiracy designed to keep us well supplied with blessings. What kind of blessings? Palatial homes, attractive lovers, lottery winnings, career success? Maybe. But just as likely: interesting surprises, unexpected challenges, gifts we hardly know what to do with, conundrums that force us to get smarter...The Christian writer C.S. Lewis once said: 'I thank God that He hasn't given me all the things I've prayed for, because as I look back now I realize it would have been disastrous to have received some of them.'"

Thank goodness for being blindsided by unexpected blessings.

one more before I head to class

This is a neat site - the "World Question Center," where they ask a bunch of people in different fields fairly open ended questions.
