Now for a real update. The party for Uzbeks went well. Malika opa showed up with a huge batch of plov and some non. It amazed me how my Uzbek friends and colleagues work to bring their culture into all of our activities. I think a fun time was had by all, even though I had been attacked by the snot monster of death. Spring colds are just evil. Luckily yesterday R was able to go to the bazaar to get me the makings for my cold remedy (ginger, lemon, and honey). After a few cups I'm already feeling better.

Sunday night we also went to our friend's Seder, which was long but informative (and interrupted many times by my honky nose blowing). I think K was glad that we were there even though I was sick, since she doesn't have many people to share her holidays with here in Tashkent. The orthodox Seder is much much longer and more involved than the ones I remember that I went to with my adopted pagan-jewish mom from college.

Yesterday I had to do another TV interview, this time with a froggy cold voice. It was all kinds of no fun. I have a hard time sounding intelligent (and intelligible) in Uzbek even without a brain full of snot. This was just miserable. Malika opa was very gentle with me though, so it wasn't all bad.

Today I'm going to try and take it easy because there is supposed to be another competition in Karshi sometime in late April or early May. That means more travelling and risking tummy issues.
