Another job posting came up through a listserv that I'm on. I'm going to wait a while before submitting an application. Once again, they are looking for teaching experience. I'm not sure that TAing cuts it, and beyond that I have no teaching expereince. I am really worried about my job prospects without any teaching experience. I haven't been able to get any adjuncts while in grad school because I've been out of the country too much. I applied for summer school teaching this year and a teaching fellowship with OID and was rejected for both. I can understand why, I've only got 5 quarters of TAing as opposed to the 6 they wanted for the fellowship. And the department has lots of other more senior ABD/recent Ph.Ds who are jobless and they should get the summer school teaching gigs. Still, I'm terrified that I don't have enough experience to actually get a job when all is said and done. I'm not sure what to do. I'll pimp out my resumes wherever I end up living next year to try to get a class or two under my belt. Any ideas from the peanut gallery?

well considering that 2 of the jobs I'm applying for are at community colleges, I don't think I've limited my search to 'snooty' schools :)

I will probably be looking at adjunct work if nothing comes through. Unfortunately, that also means no insurance and no benefits, which is a scary proposition.

It sounds like you are on top of it. Good luck.
