iyindo - this one's for you ;)

Hey, I just found a poem I like! And it's not by a Russian or one of the 2 or 3 angsty women poets I like (but rarely choose to read):

Those We Love, by Todd Pope

They say the world is round - and yet
I often think it's square,
So many little hurts we get
From corners here and there.
But there's one truth in life I've found
While jouneying East and West:
We flatter those we scarcely know;
We please the fleeting guest,
And deal many a thoughtless blow,
To those we love the best.

Boy does this hit home. I come from a long line of women who are on their best behavior for strangers and snip and snipe at those they love.

It's a nice little poem! And I don't think you have to be a woman or from any line in particular for it to be true!
