blessings

I've felt remarkably blessed lately.

I've spent the week figuring out how to be a housewife, since the temp agencies have decided that I don't need work (I do have a few days of work next week, so no need to panic).

I've been able to have a phone conversation with every member of my nuclear family in the last week.

The heat wave broke! I slept with a blankie for the first time in over a week last night!

I had a really wonderful birthday celebration last night. It was low pressure and low key and I stuffed myself with delicious pizza, decent beer, and the best pie in the ENTIRE world.

For my birthday this year, I don't just get 1 pie, I get 2! and I'm having a piece for breakfast.

I got to make tea in the BIG teapot last night for [livejournal.com profile] groblek and [livejournal.com profile] kay_gmd

R got up this morning and swept and mopped the kitchen before leaving for work (seriously - he just got up and did it, since he didn't get to it last night - I have truly succeeded in converting him to a diurnal lifestyle!)

Prof. H. arrives this afternoon and we're all heading up to Lassen tomorrow morning.

Everything seems pretty pleasant and mellow. Is this what relaxation feels like?

Yes my birthday is on Saturday, but we celebrated yesterday with friends since we will be camping with Prof. H. tomorrow and didn't want to inflict my birthday (or the expectation of parties and presents) on her. She is stalwart in guarding information about when her birthday is, so I thought I would return the favor.

Thank you for the birthday wishes :)
