I'm still drowning in exams, but R finally left yesterday night so hopefully I'll be better at getting things accomplished. It was very hard to have him leave - he was here for almost 3 weeks and I got very attached to the idea of having him around in my everyday life - I need to live with this boy.
After he left I watched Mona Lisa Smile with
dcicuto while I graded the final for Psych of Film Music. I thought the movie started out really strong, but kind of chickened out in the end - it was a very Hollywood ending and I wanted a little more poignancy. I also think that they ascribed a lot of 21st century post modern thought onto 1950s people, but I didn't live in that era, maybe I'm just assuming that. Still a very fun movie - I'm glad I didn't live through that era of history, though I see a lot of similarity to the traditional family values that the mucky mucks in politics seem to be pushing for.

What time do you get up? - 7am unless R is around, then it could be an hour or 2 later. But I'm doing very well at converting him to diurnal life
If you could eat lunch with one person, who would it be? Condeleeza Rice - I distrust her foreign policy so much, and she is so knowledgeable about the former Soviet Union - I want to know how those views and her knowledge set can possibly combine.
Gold or silver? White Gold
What was the last film you saw at the cinema? American Pie 3 dubbed into Russian. I went with my friend Kamola in Tashkent - the potty jokes were especially shocking in that setting, and I noticed that when Kamola was retelling the plot to her family afterward they were conspicuously left out.
What is your favorite TV show? lately I've really been enjoying Everwood
What do you have for breakfast? Tea and granola with yogurt if I'm home. At school usually a granola bar and tea or coffee
Who would you hate to be stuck in a room with? crying babies and religious proselytizers
What is your middle name? Heather
Beach, City or Country? Country, preferably with mountains and rocky beaches
Favorite ice cream? Pear Sorbet from the gelato place on Abbot Kinney
Butter, plain or salted popcorn? butter and salt especially at the movies
Favorite color? Purple
What kind of car do you drive? 68 VW beetle named daisy - she's falling apart but has very pretty flowers on her
Favorite sandwich? Roast beef and Swiss on a croissant
What characteristic do you despise? Self righteousness (we hate in others what we despise in ourselves)
Favorite flower? Iris
If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? Morocco, Argentina - they're in 2 continents I've never been to
What color is your bathroom? Light aqua and white
Favorite brand of clothing? Anything my friend Kamola makes for me (including my most fabulous velour dress)
Where would you retire to? the Pacific Northwest
Favorite day of the week? Wednesdays this quarter - my oasis in the middle of the week - its also laundry, big lots and cheap Mexican day
