Wow today has been all about waiting. Uzbek time has smacked me up-side the head.

R and I ended up waiting an hour in the embassy so that we could get authorized to cash checks and then I went to the Insitute for my 11 o clock meeting that didn't start until 1 and lasted all of 5 minutes.

UGH!

I was trying to feel zen about it, chanelling the whole waiting is...kind of spirit but when it comes down to it I am too damn American to be content to be kept waiting with nothing to do for 2 hours - it drove me crazy.

On the upside, we got our comissary privileges today. They were out of peanut butter, but we now have non-Uzbek wine, Captain Morgan, pesto sauce, muesli, and barbecue sauce in our house. Life isn't all that bad after all.

I just noticed your post, and I thought to myself "Hey, I know a guy who just went to Uzbekistan."

Then I started looking at your journal and userinfo, and I suspect that guy is actually married to you. =P

Is the "R" repeatedly mentioned in your journal from Livermore, CA? If so, mind if I friend you? (and does he have a journal?)

That should be "I just noticed your post on [livejournal.com profile] academics_anon"

Yes R is the one from livermore who just went to Uzbekistan and is married to me.

Feel free to friend me - I don't know if we've actually met, but I'm no good at decoding friends of friends (or friends of husbands) identities by online profiles. I've only been to dragon bytes a few times, but I feel like I've met and liked a lot of R's friends.

He does have a journal - its uzbekaemrys or something like that - you can look at my friends page. He hasn't exactly adopting a prolific posting style :)
