turn about is fair play, apparently

I just had a conversation with an Armenian lady in Russian because she was trying to buy something w/out a price tag at the Big Lots and the poor cashier was having no luck talking to the poor woman. I heard her pseudo-English and realized that it was probably slavic influenced, so I asked "vy govorite po-russkiy?" And her eyes brightened and she started to babble incessantly about the pair of sweat pants she was trying to purchase that was supposed to come with a jacket, but she searched for the jacker for an hour and couldn't find it. I conveyed this to the cashier-lady and she said that she could have the pants for half the price of the set and went off to look for a tag that was the right price to scan in. During the couple of minutes wait the woman and I got to chatting and she questioned my ethnicity, and after hearing that I'm a "clean blooded" American (that's the expression in Russian - it's a bit sicko) she told me that I resemble Russians, but I resemble Americans more.

Then came the kicker - she said that I have a bit of an Uzbek accent when I speak Russian -- too funny.

I've had a Russian accent in Uzbek for quite a while - it's nice to know that they are evening out ;)

(no subject)

Woooo! I found $1 aerobics at a rec center in the valley! T. and Th. Even better, there are $2 step classes M. and W. deeper in the valley - looks like I won't have to join a gym and work out with the thong patrol after all.
