Well shit. I just got my first rejection letter for Dissertation Year fellowship grants. It was from the Spencer Foundation, and I didn't even make the semifinals. Of course the fellowship is for education Ph.D.s and my work is only somewhat relevant, but I had to try for it. The form email was well worded, but as always still makes me feel like shit. I'm so scared about not getting funding for next year, I don't know what to do.

thanks hon, that's pretty much what R just said. I just want to know the answer now. If I have to take loans and find jobs and go crazy to get through next year I want to know so I can start planning. I know its not practical and that everything will become clear in the next two months, but I just want to feel like I am steadily progressing toward my goals of Ph.D., job at U., babies.
