(no subject)

The last couple days have been interesting. My lessons are going well, but people are really starting to annoy me. I think my short fuse is due to PMS, the heat wave (can it be called a wave if it's expected to last through August), and just general being in Uzbekistan crap. Every once in a while i just want things to work.

The woman who asked me to edit (read: rewrite) the english translation of her catalog is on my case to get it done ASAP, one of the professors has become her mercenary and has started bugging me as well, and the crowning glory - a cab driver yesterday asked me how much I weighed. (I'm a chubby bunny by American standards, I'm inconcievably HUGE by Uzbek standards). I feel bad for the driver, but I let him have it. It gave me an excuse to vent some of my pent uzbekiangst. My closing words were "you should be ashamed of yourself" as I handed him his money and marched away.

Maybe not my most diplomatic moment, but it sure made me feel better.

he was a taxi driver! -- no need to be diplomatic. i think it's fine that you gave him an earful. i also, by the way, like your coining of the word "Uzbekiangst."

how much longer are you there?

2 months and 21 days until we fly home.

I figured it was okay to unleash on him a little, since I am paying him to drive me home, not to ask me rude questions.
