R and I are safely back from karshi. Everything seems to have calmed down here. It is good to be home. The music competition was phenomenal - I am amazed at the quality and talent some of these highschool age students are showing. I think this is proof that the push to put traditional music programs in schools and lyceums (highschools) instead of just at the conservatory really working. I made a lot of recordings that I think think are really impressive.

We also got to go to Shahrisabz, a city where Amir Temur lived. We climbed to the top of Oq Saroi (the White Palace) and saw some beautiful views of the city and the mountains near by. I got a wicked sun burn, but that seems to have cleared up now.

Hey, I'm glad you're safe. I've been reading the news and wondering about you and R and the awkwardness of being in a foreign place during major unrest.

Glad to hear you and R are safe...you two have been much in my thoughts.

thanks for your thoughts - we are safe and Tashkent is tense but stable. I don't think UZ is ready for a revolution yet - it would be too bloody and the people don't quite seem angry enough yet. I wouldn't be suprised if it happened a year or two down the road, and we are trying to stay alert incase we need to make a swift exit.
