(no subject)

Looks like today and tomorrow are going to be super busy - our friend K is flying out tomorrow in the early early AM and the Conservatory's exit exams are today and the College's are tomorrow....I am going to be a tired cookie by friday.

Plus R has had major dental work and is very out of sorts (understandably). The poor guy is getting all his fillings switched from mercury amalgam to ceramic plus having a botched root canal pulled and his front snaggle tooth repaired. He's heading back to the dentist on Thursday, which will be his 3rd trip. Luckily, K has bequeathed Tylenol 3 up on us.

Our plans for Tajikistan are moving along. We have our visas and the woman who is my main contact there came up with a horribly expensive place to stay for us ($50/night). I balked at this, especially because R and I pay $150 a MONTH here. Luckily Malika opa has family in Dushanbe and said that she would arrange it so we could stay with them. yay!

Dear Mrs. Merchimerch,

Unfortunately I do not know your first name, but Your livejournal is intriguing. :-)

The fact is I live in Tashkent and recently decided to add all guys pointed out "Tashkent" as a city of their destination.

When I opened my friend-list today I was very surprised to see messages of a young woman from US currently living In Tashkent.

Most of Livejournal users in Tashkent know each other and often spend free time together drinking beer and organizing all kind of parties etc.

I know nothing about Uzbek music etc, but nevertheless I think it would be great if you (and your husband as well) are able to attend one of the meetings of our LiveJournal community this or next month. (btw most of these guys know English much better than me, so it won't be a boring party in a total silence for you)

Now I'm curious; why switch the filling type? Were the amalgam ones defective?

My mom has mostly amalgam ones and mine are all ceramic, yet we have the same dentist. Curious...

I believe that amalgam is defective by design - it has more than trace amounts of mercury in it. We are already getting a large dose of heavy metals by living here in UZ, and the US is steadily moving in that direction, so R is switching his fillings to ceramic while it's cheap.

Amalgam is the old and cheap way of doing things. I have all ceramic fillings and as far as i can tell they are the best thing to put in your teeth.
