I'm never going to get a job

Oh crap - Prof. H just told me that there is a typo in the 1st page of my writing sample.

How does that happen? I have had so many eyes look over that thing and never caught it. I've sent it out probably a dozen times already to jobs...I guess I can kiss all of those off. Conventional wisdom says that job searches will find *any* excuse to throw someone out of the running, and something like that is just the ammunition they need.

Oh and in case that isn't enought to weigh heavily on my mind, we have no water at all. It kind of makes me nostalgic for UZ.

I would hope that someone taking the time to read a writing sample, would be able to overlook a typo if the sample was quality work.

Does the supply of canidates outstrip the demand by enough to make it that competitive?

I'm not sure - most years I would say "definitely!" this year there may be enough jobs for all well qualified candidates (I do consider myself pretty well qualified, even if my writing sample is tainted with typos)
