I swear that in my lifetime I've seen the notion of war redefined. The triple suicide in Guantanamo Bay has been classified as an act of war by the US government. So does that mean that the folks who are imprisoned there are POWs? If so doesn't that mean that they have rights that have not been granted to them? Also, I think this is one of the few times that I have resented my network-only TV. There is no mention of the world cup, much less any coverage.

I've survived 2 highschool graduations in the span of the last few days and am now spiffying up my dissertation and getting ready to head down to LA on Tues. I'm hoping to get there soon enough to see the ruler lady in the library before closing time. Everyone says that meeting with her before trying to submit the thesis is very important.

Um, let me know if I have to return my library books so you can graduate. But, I don't think they're due for a while.

I'm not sure how that works - I believe they need to be returned before I receive my diploma, which they say will be ready 4 months after I graduate. I'm not sure if I can get my certificate of completion with books still on loan (thats what I get after I file).

Just for bookkeeping's sake, I looked at my account and show 8 Chinese medicine books due in mid-October. If it becomes a problem, I can return them at some point while I'm down there.

I know you're out of town a lot while I'm there - is there a time we can hang out?
