It has been a very full day. The whole family got up at the crack of dawn and left the house at 6 to get to my lil bro's soccer tournement. He has been named a captain this year, the first time anyone can remember a junior being a captain. The team won on and lost one and lil bro played really well. He has taken a real leadership role in the team and I'm proud of the skill he's showing.

In between games R and I and my mom and dad went to the woolrich outlet. Things were still expensive, but I picked up travel pillows for us which role up and have a lash strap to keep them compact. Very cool!

After the tourney we stopped at Sams Club (I know its evil and Costco is a much better company and treats its workers better, but lo an behold Sams Club is the institution that is entrenched in Western PA.) I stocked up on uzbek gifts and meds - huge bottles of immodium, loratadine, and multivitamins.

Then we headed to the folkfest which was really fun. R and I hadn't had dinner so we split a bourbon chicken sandwich and an order of sweet potato fries. ([livejournal.com profile] rahvina I thought of you when eating the chicken. It was yummy, but not as nice as yours.) We caught the tail end of a jazz/soul combo and a song or 2 of a country/folk artist and then found seats for the Zydeco band. Last time I went to the folk fest they had Buckwheat Zydeco who is one of my favorites. This time it was Chubby Carrier and I really enjoyed it. There was this incredibly kinetic guy in the band who didn't seem to have a big role in the actual music making. He was in pink spandex pants and a cut and beaded t-shirt with a belly dance belt and he was hopping and dancing and shaking himself all over the stage alternating between tambourines and maraccas. It was hilarious. At a pause between songs R turned to me and said "see, I told you I wanted to be a tambourine man!"

I got up and boogied for a good long while, taking great pride in "accidentally" elbowing the guys smoking in the non-smoking venue while I was dancing. When the band broke between sets I went and told the police officers near the tent and they said "well just move to avoid it." Disappointing; I would have liked that rule enforced.

R and I found a cheap copy of Amplitude at the Sams Club and now I'm not sure if we're ever going to bed.
