Wow, I just updated my job file for this year and it is up to 13 - I've sent out 5 applications so far and have 3 more prepared but not sent yet. It is so hard to decide just how wide to cast one's net - I don't want to skip applying for jobs that might consider me, but I also don't want to waste my time applying for departments that will never consider me.

Prof. H. seems to be encouraging me to cast a fairly wide net - hopefully it will pay off.
