Dec. 22nd, 2003 05:43 pmwow being sick and alone and in the 2nd world really stinks. Those of you with flu/cold in N. America and W. Europe count your blessings. Today I had my Uzbek lesson anyway and my teacher let me stop 20 minutes early - we were at a stopping point and I was starting to fade in a noticable way. He laughed at my honky nose blowing - I don't not blow my nose petitely even for an american. And he told me to drink more hot tea - like I could drink MORE hot tea here - it is all I drink - water and juice is expensive, I don't imbibe soda ever or alchohol when I'm sick, so I drink hot tea, and more hot tea, and yes, more hot tea.
Thought I was supposed to meet with Viloyat opa today, but it looks like she thought it was tomorrow - I have to call her and see if she has to be filmed tomorrow, then I get my schedule. If Malika has healed by tomorrow I get my first lesson in a week and a half as well.
Realized today that the day after tomorrow is christmas eve - very odd. I feel very unchristmased. The new year is a big deal here and that seems to be what everyone is gearing up for but I am really not having any christmas this year and it's kind of amazing.
