Tax woes

I am starting to organize my tax information since my W2s are in. I am overwhelmed. I think I have to declare my grant from the SSRC, but it doesn't seem right because all that money got burned up on research expenses. And if you count that I made over $20,000 this year for the first time ever. How is it possible to make that much money and still be so frickin poor? And then to rub salt in the wound I'll probably have to write a hefty check to Uncle Sam in April. Yuck.

Anyone know an accountant I can borrow? One who will take payment in the form of homemade bread, knitted objects, or sexual favors?
