I turned in an edited 21 page dissertation proposal to my prof today via email - I feel accomplished. Now I have 5 days to write his exam - argh! But the carrot on the end of the stick is beltane and a marriage license - that's a pretty big carrot so maybe I'll get through it.

I have been trading emails with my former teacher in London (who is Uzbek) about a variety of topics - the last email I sent her included a picture of R and I and an answer to her question about whether R was an ethnomusicologist (I told her no he isn’t, I got tired of dating dull academics and flaky musicians). Here is her lovely and encouraging response:
