gar - more red tape - apparently I need to pass UCLA's Human Subjects research and ethics course which is online and is supposed to take about 3 hours.....I just started the intro and it seems to be mostly about medical stuff. I asked the Fulbright advisor if I needed that clearance since I will only be doing interviews and recordings. She sent me to the website which says nothing about who needs this cert. I think it is implied that I need it. I don't hate the idea of ethics training, I just begrudge the hours right now.
