Oct. 23rd, 2004 08:32 amI have now descended to new level of ripeness and odor.
It is now day 3 without hot water - kind of like camping, except I'm still expected to dress in nice blouses and slacks and present myself to the world.
a day without hot water is quite normal here - 2 days is annoying but happens on occasion. I've never gon 3 days without and I'm starting to wonder what is going on. If it doesn't turn on by noon I think I'm going to call my landlords and ask if we can shower at their house.
Spent a bunch of time last night watching TV - I saw Rustam aka play what i think was dutar bayoti on TV - it was funny - he was playing in a suit with no soft lighting and no funny islamic looking decor - I think it was filmed at the conservatory with plants in the background. Right after his performance they put on one of the soft lighted, Orientalized traditional music videos - a guy playing Tanbur Nolasi. It was such an odd contrast. Rustam aka is not conservatory trained and not completely engulfed in the uzbek music world - he is a physicist and a science genius and it is his lab that I go to to hang out and talk about/play music. He is just a natural at music - and plays with a very interesting style - what malika opa called the "ventilatorskiy stil'" Or the electric fan style - basically his right hand moves so quickly like a fan, and it add a really interesting texture to the performance.
Anyway - here's hoping the water comes on today :)
