Well I'm preparing for a dutar lesson this morning that I'm not ready for thanks to a day of watching CNN instead of writing grants or practicing. I guess it was worth it. I still believe in America - we are a weakened country, thwarted by corruption and media monopolies, but I still believe there is something about the American spirit that is special. I do love my country and I feel a certain duty to try and help fix the problem. Maybe a little more Bush is what our fellow countrymen need in order to wake up to specific causes like the environment and anti-trust. Maybe we need to do a little more suffering (and cause a little more pain). Hopefully the atrocities from the wars that will inevitably come in the next four years will serve to embolden the public to demand free airwaves, devoid of corporate control, accurate and detailed information, and a government that actually serves the people. Its wishful thinking, but its what I'm left with.

I also know what it is to live in other countries. I'm not sure I really want to be an ex-pat for the rest of my life. People view Canada as the place where the grass is greener, kind of like America without the religious extremism and with healthcare, but that system won't be perfect either.

For the time being all I have to say is Clinton-Obama 2008!

(Think of it - women are 51% of the population, non-whites are a disctinct majority - they ARE America)

The Piled Higher and Deeper comic for today is quite apt:
