Nov. 14th, 2004 09:10 amI feel funny and I have a fever. I've had a pounding headache since last night - I thought was from eye strain and stress, but I woke up this morning with the same pounding in my temples and occipital lobe. I just took fizzy uzbek tylenol and its gotten better, but I am in no mood to try and finish translating my stupid paper. I decided to write it in English first, then translate, which is not what I usually do, but I realize that it would be more organized if i did. I will not do any kind of strict translation, but this should keep me inline with what I actually want to say.
Rich went to our landlords' last night to hang out with the Americans who were meeting up there and to get out of the house while I worked on my paper. I think he had fun and met a few more english speakers. Apparently there was more than an abundance of food - they couldn't even eat the Ganga cake he brought.
After he got home we watched "fight for the faith" about the split between conservative evangelical Christians and those who are more tolerant/trying to allow the church to be more all encompassing. It was a very interesting show, though I thought the main reported left some things to be desired - she asked some silly and condescending questions. While watching the show I realized one thing - I think I am more tolerant of conservative/strongly observant Jews and Muslims than I am of their Christian counterparts. Some how I invoke some kind of cultural compassion for their extreme actions that I just don't for extreme Christians. It gave me pause and made me question my own tolerances.
