Feb. 7th, 2005 08:15 pmYesterday was rough - R was out of sorts and that made me out of sorts and I just took it and dove head first into an emotional meltdown. Oh and my ass feels like it's on fire - the sandpaperesque toilet paper has finally taken its toll. OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH. This added up to a seriously unhappy merchimerch.
Today was way better. Thanks to a hydrocortisone cream aptly named "ultra-prokt," the fires in my ass have dwindled to smoldering embers. I did yoga and had one of the most productive dutar lessons this trip. Plus I bought new video games and while I was waiting in line to change money (which took an hour), I met a nice guy from the Eastern Studies Insitute who said he'd find me a Farsi teacher. He works for the peace corps and had the best English I've heard for a while. He also complimented my accent in Uzbek, which is a rare and ego puffing compliment (my Russian accent gets compliments all the time, or people just assume I'm from Poland - very few people tell me my Uzbek accent is good, well, cuz it's not).
And the culminating moment of today was.....PRESENTS!!!!!!!
I got a package I got a package la la la la la!
Rahvina and Sarisa get the prize for fixing yesterday's crappy day. A fed ex box of three fabulous non-research related english-language books was waiting for me at the American Councils office. I'm 2 chapters into the David Sedaris book already :) Many many many thanks you guys.
