Feb. 21st, 2005 08:27 amWell dinner went alright - there were some weird moments in conversation but there was no time when I felt overly uncomfortable.
I did however manage to ruin the kosher on a few dishes. K keeps kosher remarkably strictly, even in Uzbekistan, and we were having a meat meal. I made apple sauce, thinking no meat, dairy, alchohol (R, K's roommate is a shiite), sounds great right? Except that I have started frying everything in butter because of the poor quality vegetable oil here. So I made dairy apple sauce unfortunately and on remembered/realized it would be a problem as K was dishing it onto meat plates. Ooops. Boy am I glad that I don't have any religiously mandated dietary restrictions. My dietary restrictions come and go with my whims, and I think I like that.
