Apr. 5th, 2005 08:27 amWe are having really rainy cold weather right now. It makes me want to just curl up and do nothing. I won't be able to though, since I am having dinner at Malika opa's house tonight since my first dutar teacher from London is in town for 10 days. It will be a working dinner too, since she's asked me to print out and bring a copy of the article I wrote for a journal she is editing so that she can give me her feedback/have me make changes.
Also, one of our friends who is living with a host family here just got sick and his Uzbek host parents haven't got a clue about how to make an american better, I'm going to brew up some lemon ginger tea, make some apple sauce and squeeze some orange juice and bring it over to him (with a round of antibiotics incase it is strep throat). I hope the host mom doesn't take offense at this, but I'm sorry - lamb and fried potatoes is not going to make my friend better! I think I'm going to take the humble route and just say that when people are sick, they need their own home-remedies for comfort. Hopefully she will realize that I just want him to have what makes americans feel better and not that I am insulting her ability to help J get better.
