Jan. 6th, 2006 06:39 pmI'm finally back from my visit with my folks. We delayed our return by 2 days since my ENTIRE family came down with the 24 evil death flu. My penchant for ginger tea meant that I was the one most able to hold food down and ended up fetching and carrying gatorade and pepto bismol for my mom, lil bro, and R. During this process I learned where I get my control freak tendencies from (as if I didn't know already). My mom is really no good at being sick - she keeps trying to help and relapsing.
I had an exciting trip back from PA. The culmination was being picked up at the airport by R's dad and hearing that he has "good news and bad news, none of which are about your car," then proceeding to arrive at his house where we'd parked for the 2 weeks to find that the car wouldn't start. Interestingly the bad news he was talking about was that our basil plant died under his care and the good news was that the lavender plant *almost* didn't die.
So I have gone from being in a very social household with a mom who loves to talk to a completely empty house and no way to travel anywhere beyond walking distance, since R is at his dad's fixing the Toyota and took the escort up there. I just keep wondering at the fact that it is so quiet.
Oh and we're turning around and driving to SoCal tomorrow to go to an Uzbek wedding - the fun never stops.
