(no subject)

and now for a rare installment of materialism in my journal.

For some reason the Land's End online catalogue is how I'm stalling on writing SC's midterms, and WOW I really want this:

I haven't had a cashmere sweater since my black one from undergrad gave up the ghost. And yes, I live in CA and don't *need* cashmere, and of course I'm not going to go spend $75 on something like this....but wow - it is exactly what I like in sweaters - the split neck, tunic cut, and no scratchiness. I wish I could justify this purchase, maybe in terms of spending winters in PA, but I think it's too much of a stretch.

*ETA - my folks are sweet - my dad let me know that he's ordered a blue one for me and it should be delivered in a week or so. I am officially a very spoiled daughter.

Wait no...it IS this week

Oh man. I got called for a gig last friday, to play about 10 minutes of music for a school show with the Central Asian dance troupe I used to play with before I left for the field.

I thought the gig was a week from Friday...turns out nope - it's THIS Friday - as in 3 days away.

I think I have enough music and talking to make it work, but MAN I was looking forward to chilling out a bit and giving myself a longish weekend.

That said, some cash and performing experience is worth it.

Now the grand debate is whether or not to use my master dutar, or use my emergency back up dutar (since dutar sub 2 is still broke). I'm leaning toward the master dutar, but I'm nervous to take it places. That said, what use is a master dutar if it never gets played?
