the lactic acid, it burns

I made it 1000 yards, which is a 12th of what my peak days were as a high school athlete (yes, there were days when I'd do two 6K practices). The scariest part is that I can feel some of my arm muscles already protesting. I hope I'll still be able to move them tomorrow.
Rednikki's local pool is olympic sized, and wow it makes a difference. I hadn't swum in one of those in years, and it amazed me how programmed I still am to 25-yard pools. After I would hit the mid point I would keep feeling this urge to turn and look forward thinking "are we there yet?"
Laps take a lot more out of you when you only get to push off the wall half as often as you're used to (not that I'm used to swimming laps at all any more)
Maybe I'll have to try keeping this up through the summer, since I seem to be getting worse at going to aerobics since I started hanging out on the westside more often.
