Mar. 19th, 2007 02:38 pmWow what a busy weekend! It was full of wonderful things and plans for more wonderful things.
Sunday's sermon was a doozy in a good way - all about how quick we rush to judgement and how difficult it is to enact grace. Pastor Joey preached on the prodigal son parable, which he claims to have great difficulty with. It is interesting, when ever I hear someone speak about something they claim to struggle with it always seems to be both thoughtful and thought provoking. Here are some highlights from the sermon that I jotted down on my order of service:
"God's ability to love is greater than our ability to mess up...God is grander than we think"
"We move to judgement more easily than grace because grace requires hard work."
And in the closing he was talking about the self righteous older brother and how we want to identify with him - he also put in a plug for the divine feminine, saying that you know that it was the mother who threw the party for the prodigal son. He wrapped it up talking about God's kingdom as a party and grace and a bunch of stuff I'm not quite piecing together right now. It ended with "The problem with prodigals is that either we don't want to party or we don't want to be graceful." There is just something brilliant about that.

nisaa graduate and then party with her and a couple dozen others at Maos, which on a Sunday night had managed to run out of chicken, beef, shrimp, and pork, so it was Lambfest 2007. Turns out the sesame yam beef is even better when it is sesame yam lamb.
I got a shiatsu massage at nisaa's spa outing on Sat. night and it was amazing. The woman wasn't just walking on my back, she was dropkicking my muscles into next week.
Fri. I took prof. H. to the airport and now I'm housesitting for the next two weeks, which means I'm walking distance from campus (huzzah!).
