Mars bars not veggie

So the company that makes Mars bars (and Twix and the likes) announced in the UK that as of May 1 they have been using rennet (i.e. material from baby calf tummies) in their candy bars.
Any idea if this is true in the US? Was Twix ever thought to be vegetarian/vegan? Are they even made by the same company/made with the same recipe? Does the US have laxer reporting laws? (Though it seemed like this announcement in the UK was couched as a courtesy to concerned consumers)
