Mar. 22nd, 2008 08:55 amI am posting from
nisaa and
stevefava's couch right now. They have gone off to the SCA Crown Tourney north of Davis with Sofia the puppy, so I get to have a quiet morning with the cats.
I'd forgotten how deeply satisfying it is to sit and putter on the computer with a cat curled up against me. There's a visceral peacefulness to it. Hopefully my folks will deliver my cats to me soon.
Last night I heard my friend A sing Carmen with the Livermore Valley Opera. We're friends from college, and she sounded lovely in 1996, but man oh man, her voice has gotten lighter and more powerful and so much more nuanced. Huzzah for maturity!
No huzzah for traffic, however, which was INSANE. I'm so glad that I live on the periphery of the bay area and in my everyday life can pretend that freeways don't exist.
Today once I'm done soaking up the calm of kitties and couches and a morning with nothing scheduled, I think I'll do some yoga and head to the Numi Tea Garden for lunch. (tough life)
There's a Navruz concert from 4-6 at the Silk Road House in Berkeley for anyone who is interested. I know the doira player who will be performing, and he's worth trying to park in Berkeley to see.
