yay for houseguests!
May. 15th, 2008 10:05 amOkay, I think it is official
extraspecialk and her hubby are the best low maintenance houseguests EVAR! Seriously, they even inflated their own air mattress.
They hit town at 2:30 for an accupuncture appt. at grassroots acuproject, but since I teach and had work stuff, I didn't get to see them until after my seminar around 8. They entertained themselves and didn't bug me and the materialized at my house in time for me to serve tea and be taken to dinner - yay!
We went to Avantis and I had the lamb special - HOLY CRAP! It was leg of lamb, done to perfection and not overly seasoned, because when good local meat is of such high quality, you don't want anything to get in the way of the meat. The lamb was sitting on a bed of sauteed cabbage and lima beans and carrots with some lamb flavored reduction on it - so delicious. We wrapped up the meal splitting the chocolate pot du creme (otherwise known as the cup of frosting), and then filled a growler at Santa Cruz Mountain Brew and headed to Marianne's for a little ice cream. Completely decadent and I have know idea how my tummy avoided exploding.
When we got home, I dug around my storage shed for my mattress and pump and we had a little beer and put in King Corn while they pumped the mattress up (slowly) and then put nice flannel sheets on it and they fell asleep.
In the morning we got up and I made french toast with carrot poppyseed bread from Staff of Life and Yunnan Gold Tips tea. Before heading out, K did the dishes - ALL OF THEM - even the ones that were on my counter from the day before. What a blessing! After saying our goodbyes, I sent them on their way in beautiful balmy weather. They're ambling up Route 1 to
nisaa and
stevefava's place via Half Moon Bay. Hope you guys have fun.
K and J, it was wonderful to see you, please come back soon!
