Sep. 27th, 2008 01:11 pmThe debates were interesting, and I find myself even more frustrated with McCain than before. You can not WIN an occupation, and this regime already declared "mission accomplished" years ago. I was quite pleased to hear Obama pronouncing nations like Pakistan and Iran in the manner in which I've heard people from that region say them. Much of what he said also seemed well thought out and willing to respond to a changing situation rather than cling to old systems and ideologies. However I'm not sure that Obama came off looking as the clearly better choice that most people in Blue states know that he is. I'm not sure that the debate would turn undecideds to his camp.
I was VERY VERY happy to get beer with
nisaa after the debates - it was much needed. We also stopped at TJs and the Food Bin for kettle corn, gluten free cookies, chocolate, and Mashti Malone's lavender ice cream. A growler of SC Mtn brew and all that was consumed in front of Eddie Izzard while both of us chatted and multitasked through the rest of the evening. Maybe it's sick, but that really is my idea of fun.
This morning I got up and made stewed ginger cinnamon apples, gluten free french toast, turkey sausage, and yunnan tea for breakfast and D and I set out to find a frame for the print that I bought from
marrus that D and
joedecker matted for me (Thank you guys so much!). Turns out, there are no cheap-o pre-made frame shops in Santa Cruz, so we ended up at an art store at River and Pacific Ave. D picked up materials to make a frame for the print (because she's awesome like that) and I got frames and mats for the other
marrus print that I own that had been sitting in a plastic frame for a year and two photos of my great great grandmother from 1919 and 1926 that my mother shipped me along with couches and a bed and boxes of books.
So now my apartment really looks like a home - there are pictures and art on the walls in real frames, my kitties are here, I have furniture, bookshelves, kitchen stuff, everything. Hurray!
