Oh my, they've built a Chairman Mao statue in the capitol city of Tibet, to try and get all those silly Buddhists excited about secular communism and Chinese nationalism....cuz, you know, it worked so well to convince other peoples of Inner Asia during the Soviet Period. What was that about history being doomed to repeat itself?
In other news, Prof. H. has said that it is time to schedule a defense in mid June (!!!). I sent out a preliminary email to my committee and found conflicts galore. Looks like a reconstitution is in order, and a new outside member.
