Oh man I have indulged in some made consumer indulgences lately - I have been going to the gym like a good girl and even avoiding the nice smoothie shop strategically positioned at the exit of the UW fitness center. Yesterday I gave in and replaced all the calories I burned (and then some) with a peach raspberry smoothie that was amazing and lasted me the entire 25 minute walk home.

And I just finally bought a curtain for the open layout of our studio apartment - there is a separate bedroom area, but it is behind the bathroom area and there is no door between the two like there is between the bathroom and the kitchen/public area. A while ago R and I bought a tension rod with the idea of putting a curtain up, but were balking at the price of curtains at the thrift stores ($8-10). I had to go to the bank for my lunch time and while I was on the Ave (the shopping thoroughfare in the U district) I went into the import shop. I found a lovely tapestry cutrain with celtic knotwork and a pentacle - I had to have it. It was only $14, so I feel okay about it, but I feel silly for dropping more cash than the curtains we skipped at the thrift store because they were so expensive.

But 'cheap' and 'good' aren't the same thing. If you can reserve your money just for buying things that you like, you are way ahead of the game - and sending the right message to merchants, to boot.

Or?

yeah that's a very good point - and it looks beautiful, I just put it up and am very happy.

yeah I'm beginning to think happiness really isn't overrated - all the sucess in the world (or worldly posessions or lovers or hummel figurines or whatever your thing is) doesn't really make up for enjoying life. Maybe that is what the stressload of the past year is teaching me.

yeah no kidding - I'm certainly going to try and enjoy myself more, even if I'm still a stress monkey
