Oh the joy of having home internet goodness! I dropped the $10 for instant gratification internet, since the free kind from irex is going to require some paperwork and volunteer work.

I'm now working on online grant applications with abandon and not feeling so worried about all the things that need to get done before november.

Had a productive lesson today - the Savti Kalon cycle is proving to be a real doozy but slowly I'm starting to get it.

I went to the Mir supermarket and bought more broccoli and more nice turkish cookies. I can't tell you all how amazing it is to have a source of green vegetables here in UZ - I just haven't had it in years past, but now I have a fridge full of brocolli and zuchinni and green beans - its so good!

I also had my first laundry adventure today - to save my hands and my sanity I limited it to a weeks worth of underwear, so bras and one blouse. Maybe later this week I'll get adventurous and do my trousers.

Tonight is our happy fun apples to apples night - we're having a bunch of english speaking friends over for word games and pizza - R is making it as I type.

Wow! Internet at home in UZ? You are living large there this year, aren't you?

yes quite large this year - my apartment is shiny and spacious and all the plumbing works (well the hot water still shuts off occasionally, but that is just life here). Plus the heat turned on 2 days ago - I am the first person that I know who has heat already. Even my landlord doesn't have it at his house yet.

And, my trip to the fancy supermarket for cookies and veggies also netted a package of normal toilet paper. This cost 1,500 sum for 4 rolls (about $1.50). Definitely luxurious :)
