I've been thinking about this election (who hasn't). And I'm realizing that the reason so many people are so fired up right now on both sides is becuase they really do view this election as a life or death thing.

Kerry supporters like myself are convinced that 4 more years of Bush would literally ruin everything - terrorism will surge, Israel/Palestine will continue in their chaos, the environment will be ruined at an unprecedented rate, the economy will function only to help the rich, and the U.S. will be effectively cut off from the rest of the world becuase of our lack of diplomatic ability or desire to solve things multilaterally.

I think Bush supporters are also convinced that electing Kerry will give the terrorists the message that we are weak and thus we will have horrible attacks on US soil and the middle east will never be at peace and we will be taxed to death and everyone will be poorer than they already are. Although I think it is based on false assumptions, I see that people really believe that electing Kerry will ruin everything and that Bush is a strong leader, ordained by god, who will fix the problems of the heathen world through crusade.

Just a little epiphany as I was realizing that I really don't know what we will do as nation and as a world if Bush and his agenda are allowed to continue.

Is it possible that there is anyone who cannot see that Bush is a moron and a puppet, and that it is him and his party, not the US populace, that has made enemies around the globe? His hold on the US media is strong, but they still show him reading his speeches, don't they?

And isn't sending the message that you've figured out that Bush is weak a good thing? Because you want the attacks to stop, right?

The only thing I understand about the Bush phenomenon is the electoral fraud.... Because, for the life of me, I cannot see anything about Bush that anyone would get behind.

Maybe that's the biggest problem for those of us in the outside world: we just don't get it. We hear Bush say "terrorism: bring it on!" and we go "huh?" (except for those who are as mad as he is, who, I guess, go, "well, ok..."). It all makes no sense.

yeah there is electoral fraud, but there are still enough people who will honestly vote for him in this country, mostly becuase they believe he is "going with god" and will guide out country. There wouldn't be an opportunity for electoral fraud if Gore had won in a landslide or if Kerry does. I agree, the rest of the world doesn't get it, neither do a bunch of Americans. The rest of the world doesn't live in a place where the religious right occupies such a large and powerful consituency.

But he is not a religious man! He's all about hatred and killing. All his faith is in the dollar and the army....
