Mar. 4th, 2004 03:19 pmPaul Chihara just came into the Psych of Film class that I TA and gave a talk on composing for films. He did a really nice job - it was a great example of a very casual style that seemed to really pull in the students. He ingected a lot of his philosophy into it and talked about risk taking and always saying yes when opportunity arises and the fact that no director has ever asked to look at his report card when hiring him to score a film. He also confirmed a lot of the things we study in class, like the music conforming syntactically to the cuts, pans, and action on screen. It was was a really effective and warm and fuzzy talk.
