I went for a walk on the beach/boardwalk today. As I was walking along, minding my own business a black guy blocks my path and spreads his arms wide and says "where have you been all my life?" I step to the side, look him in the eyes and say "fuck off." To this he replies "Okay, black chick"
And that starts me thinking what about what I said/did precludes me from white identity - I wonder if he's touching on the cultural mores that say that white women, when accosted are supposed to be embarrassed and non-confrontational. Perhaps that’s why he approaches and accosts white chicks....I saw him do it do another girl ahead of me on the path. If this is true it is awful! I think I would have been more comfortable had he just called me a bitch....and I think white girls who are confrontational are generally labeled as bitches, but maybe not in public and embarrassing situations? It was just a very strange experience.
