Jun. 29th, 2004 11:38 pmR and I just had a lovely evening with E from my class and her new husband. It's interesting to hang out with other young marrieds - it makes me feel less weird.
My mom asked for a copy of our wedding vows and I just typed them up. I'm not sure if I got it exactly as we worded it for the ceremony, but its close enough. I figured I might want to put it down in lj form so that I can look at it in a while and remember what R and I promised each other.
It is my will to marry you, knowing who you are and where you came from. I marry everything you’ve experienced and been, and marry who you will be. Your family is now my family, and I vow to deeply honor them.
It is my will to honor your past and what it has made you, to honor your present self, and to honor who you will become. I will rejoice and deeply honor and revere the process of growth that will become our future.
It is my will to be honest to the best of my ability. I will make communication of the highest priority and will listen and be attentive to your needs. I will do my best to be compassionate and understanding. If the time comes when our communication is not serving us well, I agree to seek outside help for us, together or separately.
