Oh man I have indulged in some made consumer indulgences lately - I have been going to the gym like a good girl and even avoiding the nice smoothie shop strategically positioned at the exit of the UW fitness center. Yesterday I gave in and replaced all the calories I burned (and then some) with a peach raspberry smoothie that was amazing and lasted me the entire 25 minute walk home.

And I just finally bought a curtain for the open layout of our studio apartment - there is a separate bedroom area, but it is behind the bathroom area and there is no door between the two like there is between the bathroom and the kitchen/public area. A while ago R and I bought a tension rod with the idea of putting a curtain up, but were balking at the price of curtains at the thrift stores ($8-10). I had to go to the bank for my lunch time and while I was on the Ave (the shopping thoroughfare in the U district) I went into the import shop. I found a lovely tapestry cutrain with celtic knotwork and a pentacle - I had to have it. It was only $14, so I feel okay about it, but I feel silly for dropping more cash than the curtains we skipped at the thrift store because they were so expensive.

All in all today has been a good day - I managed to talk about body image stereotypes and their affect on women's psyches in Uzbek class and didn't feel like I sounded like a total idiot. Our conversation/presentation topic for the day was stereotypes. I got people talking about how fat and access to nutritious food is an economic issue in American society.

My workout went well, then I set out on a walk to find the bus that would take me to the bagel store - it was rather far away so I got lots of exercise. I also stopped in the Gaelsong store which is right across the street - so pretty! I was swooning over all the Celtic-y goodness and they even had a Gaia statue from Oberon and Morning Glory's statuary company. I chatted with the clerk about pagan-y goodness and picked up the local publications - I'm not sure if R and I will have time to attend any events, but I'm glad that there is such an active community here. R has started saying "when we come back to Seattle," which makes me really happy - he likes it here and really wants to come back. I hope I can get a job so that we can.

Also I bought R a ticket into Oakland - He'll be there Sat. morning Aug 14 and leave on the last flight Monday Aug 16.

I hung up the curtain and am basking in it's glory - I will soon revel in the preservation of my wifely modesty.
