Sep. 24th, 2004 10:49 amSo R and I are now the proud owner of a new laptop and a new minidv camcorder, all for use in Uzbekistan.
we settled on an emachines M6811 because it seems to have everything we want at the best price. We thought about macs, but Uzbeks don't use them so I'd have trouble if I wanted to take anything to the internet cafe to email out or fix something there, etc. The machine seems really nice - CD and DVD burner, the new spiffy 64 bit architecture and an 80 gig hard drive. Should be a meen green computing machine.
The camera we got was a Panasonic GS14 or something like that - a middle of the road digital video camera. Our choice of panasonic was made for reasons other than brand loyalty - Canons of that expense range ($400) don't have mic jacks, and Sonys all seem to have touchscreen menus which annoy me and can't be good for the LCD screen.
Hopefully these will serve us well. I also went to the Talbots outlet in Monroeville and got some nice looking and comfortable clothes.
R was up all night playing with the new computer, so I didn't feel too bad about the noise I made waking up this morning - he cost me sleep on the night time end, so I think its fair that his sleep is comprimised in the morning time....but maybe this time with my famiy has brought out my passive aggressive side.
