Oh my god I found an AVOCADO in the Mir Supermarket. This amazing. I mean I have seen broccoli on rare occasions in different places, never so regularly as I found this year. I don't even remember finding avocado in Britain - this is amazing! Of course its still crunchy and cost something like $2.50 but it was worth it.

Last night R and I went to Malika opa's for a while and three of the students from the conservatory were there. It was a lovely reunion as I hadn't seen them since I got here. It also turns out that I'm going to be playing in a masterclass tomorrow with her 2 star students, Ilyos and Bexzod. The third student, Mexrihon a senior this year was apparently embarrassed by hearing my playing. After the rest of us left, she stayed behind to help Malika opa clean up and then asked her to practice with her because she was ashamed that an American could pick things up so quickly and she didn't have it down as well or something. This all came from Malika opa this morning at my lesson, so I'm not sure how much hyperbole is in it, but it makes me feel pretty good to know that at the very least Malika opa is proud of my progress.

R gets along so well with Malika opa's daughter, Farangiz - I think he misses his sisters and Farangiz is very spunky and has studied english in school for quite a while. They were so cute huddled over the uzbek-english dictionary looking up words for things like "flea"

We now have a glass bowl, pie pan, and whisk. R now has all the makings for lemon meringue pie - huzzah!

I hope everyone who went to Annwfn had a lovely time - R and I really wished we could be there and were thinking of you all throughout the weekend.
