Nov. 2nd, 2004 10:18 amI've been thinking about this election (who hasn't). And I'm realizing that the reason so many people are so fired up right now on both sides is becuase they really do view this election as a life or death thing.
Kerry supporters like myself are convinced that 4 more years of Bush would literally ruin everything - terrorism will surge, Israel/Palestine will continue in their chaos, the environment will be ruined at an unprecedented rate, the economy will function only to help the rich, and the U.S. will be effectively cut off from the rest of the world becuase of our lack of diplomatic ability or desire to solve things multilaterally.
I think Bush supporters are also convinced that electing Kerry will give the terrorists the message that we are weak and thus we will have horrible attacks on US soil and the middle east will never be at peace and we will be taxed to death and everyone will be poorer than they already are. Although I think it is based on false assumptions, I see that people really believe that electing Kerry will ruin everything and that Bush is a strong leader, ordained by god, who will fix the problems of the heathen world through crusade.
Just a little epiphany as I was realizing that I really don't know what we will do as nation and as a world if Bush and his agenda are allowed to continue.
