Jan. 3rd, 2005 09:09 amI'm not sure I've mentioned in here that sometime, right before Christmas, R and I decided to hire a house cleaner. For 5000 sum (about $5) my landlord's neice comes once a week and cleans like a maniac - she does all the dishes we haven't had time for, scrubs floors, counters, vacuums, does the bathroom and toilet (they are separate rooms here). She even does a couple loads of laundry. I'm still dealing with the guilt of having someone else clean up my messes and with the measly wage we are paying her. Although, apparently, $5 is quite good pay for 3 hours work. And honestly it is really nice not to argue with R about who has to do the dishes if neither of us want to do them.
I think this is justified because things really are harder in UZ - everything eats up more time, and nothing gets done quickly - including cleaning. I just wonder what we are going to do when we get back to the states and have to clean up all our own messes again.
