In a few minutes I am having pumpkin lentil soup and jasmine tea for breakfast. Hopefully that will be an auspicious start to my morning. I've been have sort of rough mornings lately - while getting out the door to proctor the TOEFL I managed to lose and forget *everything,* break the zipper on my only appropriate pair of boots, and not have anything in the house for breakfast. Was a cranky lump of merchimerch as I shuffled out the door to find that the elevator wasn't working.

I don't know if classes start today or tomorrow at the conservatory, so I'll probably go in on Thursday just to be sure.

I need to get to the embassy today and I want to experiment making shortbread with jasmine green tea in it. I like lavender in my shortbread so much, hopefully this won't completely ruin it.

The big thing I'm procrastinating on is the Cultural Tolerance and Music paper that I need to have written by Friday, with Uzbek or Russian abstract to go with. I've got an outline and my first paragraph all set, I'm just feeling kind of funny and lazy about doing it. Maybe I'll rent another movie to reward myself with if I get a chunk of it done.

Well I just broke a dutar string, so I'm taking that as a sign from the Universe that I should put it down for the night and check my emails. It's the 2nd string I've broken this year, which means I am definitely doing something different from last year. I think it is all the pitch bending, which involves stretching and pulling the strings. Maybe they've started making the strings differently this year but I doubt it. I hope it is a good sign that I am practicing enough and playing in a more professional way.
