(no subject)

I just got the funniest response when I asked one of my friends if he'd be willing to give me a recorded interview to talk about his views on Uzbek music - he said: "well, why don't you just show me your chapters of your dissertation and I'll help you and tell you where you're wrong." I tried to explain ethnography to him and how I am trying to look at how many people are thinking about music and the common thread that I find in it and he wasn't buying it. He'd much rather just give me feedback on my thesis than actually contribute his voice to it. I guess I can appreciate that.
