I know better than to get my hopes up, really I do. I am applying for jobs as and ABD and there are dozens of jobless academics out there with more expereince and better skills, etc.

Still my hopes, or at least my fantasies are up. I just applied for a 3 year post a University College Dublin. They are looking for an Asian music specialist, and it seems like a decent sized program, with some interesting other professors.

So now the fantasies start. Living in Europe for the next three years really wouldn't be a bad thing. Having dual citizen children might be fun. I might even find some long lost relatives over there. The flights to UZ are cheaper from Heathrow. My mom has already said that she'd come visit us.

I know better than to really think I have a great chance of getting this job, but I'd like to hope.

Well shit, I just got a rejection email from the SSRC. That means that UCLA's dissertation fellowship is the only one left to hope for. Crap! Lets hope one of these jobs comes through, if the fellowships don't.
